Competitions
STANT runs a number of competitions for students to enter. Download the competition booklet or the entry forms or click on the links below for information about specific competitions.
Why should my students enter these competitions?
1. It's a chance for students to further develop their scientific skills and to pursue topics that interest them.
2. There are several different age divisions and lots of categories so everyone has a chance of winning great prizes for first, second and third in each category.
3. It's an opportunity for students to show their great work to other Territory students and the general public at the prize giving night.
4. Research investigations entered into the Territory Young Scientists Awards can be automatically entered in the National BHP Billiton Science Awards with great cash prizes to be won.
5. Participation provides opportunities to address learning outcomes from the NT Curriculum Framework.
How do I get started?
There is no need to make extra class time to introduce the Territory Young Scientists Awards. You can capitalize on the excellent opportunities that arise in your normal teaching program. Successful entries in the past have begun with interest in such things as recycling and cane toads.
